After a busy year, it can be a good idea to treat yourself to a well deserved holiday to unwind and recharge. Sometimes, when you are not working and putting your mind to rest, this might surprisingly be the moment to get inspired. It’s not without reason that some of the best ideas arise while taking a shower. If you’re looking for a place to clear your head and most importantly – leave all your worries behind – I’ve got the perfect place for you: Zanzibar. The island where they made ‘Hakuna Matata‘ (no worries) their life motto. By being partly lucky and partly a cyberstalker I managed to find a great last minute deal at Tui.
We stayed at a beautiful, quiet and small-scale resort called Diamonds Mapenzi. Although this is an all-inclusive resort, the typical drunk guests that sometimes come with this type of holiday where nowhere to be found. Thanks to the many Italian visitors and an Italian owner the food was pretty good (salads instead of hotdogs) and we could even enjoy perfectly brewed cappuccinos at the pool. If you like to wake up at the beach every day I can recommend booking a beach villa. We booked a month in advance when the prices seemed to be at an all time low and went from the 14th of december until the 21st. Pretty good timing, because around Christmas and New Years, the prices seem to triple. I’m pretty sure it is the best option to find an all-in deal, like we did with Tui, so you pay one price for your flight AND stay. If you have a look at Booking.com you can see why, the seperate hotel prices go sky high. To make a long story short: if you’re looking for a place to escape from the European winter, this is it 🙂
Did you know all the traditional African wax prints are actually made in Holland? The headwrap on this photo is from MYTRIBEwear.
This red bikini has been travelling the world with me for 6 years now. The first photo in this bikini was taken in New-Zealand and made me win a trip to Tuscany when I submitted it for a photo competition. Since then, it sort of became my talisman 🙂
